Danemann Pianos
Danemann was established in 1893 in Islington, London by William Danemann, a student of British piano maker John Brinsmead. The company became a respected part of British piano manufacturing, producing upright and grand pianos used in homes, schools, colleges, institutions, and public settings around the world.
From 1893 through the late twentieth century, Danemann built instruments with an emphasis on durability, warm tone, and reliable design. Historic Danemann instruments were supplied to British embassies, P&O Lines, schools, colleges, and private homes. The brand also earned recognition for adapting instruments to perform well in varied global climates and environments.
The mid-twentieth century was an important chapter for the company. Danemann supplied the Royal Festival Hall for its opening in 1951, and in 1963 Harrods commissioned the company to create what was described as the best upright in the world, leading to the HS2 upright.
Original Danemann production ceased in 1994. In 2017, the Danemann name was revived through Broughton Pianos, bringing the brand back into production with modern upright and grand models inspired by the company's long-standing reputation for tone, touch, and value.
